The squid and the violin
By Adam J Maynard
They lie there next to one another
Their kind of hollow bodies
A little wind rises up from the violin
I blink my wooden eyes
My big carved wooden head
It glistens and dreams of the sea
It contains so much wind
It wants to hide in a stream
Swooning in the hot wind
I seek the intimacy
Of a crudely carved wooden head
I cannot believe it
How they came to be stuck here
I cannot do much
Just provide a light breeze
I need a wooden head
