Landing Party
By Christopher Mulrooney
I had a wife who had a Cockney
accent it was her
strife set me off
had to
thinking
the dithering blue cheese
had come home to roost
oh yes it were the cold hard surplus of love in the family
and I not indistinct in these matters took up the cudgel
and smote
ah yes it were Andy the troll who had dreamed a cake
on its toadstool
in the aluminium sidinged saw repair shop
and Missy the ruby hummer
and Fido the lapdog
and Rebecca the maiden aunt
with various hangers-on
and of course Tyrone the man-woman we could never
tell all about it because of her and his
terrible temper
